AI Study Prompt Builder¶
Most AI chatbots — ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini — can be a genuinely useful study partner if you tell them exactly what you're studying, how you want to be helped, and where you're starting from. Left to guess, they tend to give generic physics that doesn't match the NSW syllabus, or hand you answers before you've had a chance to think.
This tool builds that instruction for you. Make your choices below, copy the generated prompt, and paste it into whichever AI tool your school gives you access to. Nothing is sent anywhere from this page — it all happens in your browser.
Two ways to use it
- Socratic tutoring — the AI acts as a teacher, explains one idea at a time, and asks you questions instead of just lecturing. Good when a concept hasn't clicked.
- Exam-style practice — the AI writes HSC-format questions with mark values, waits for your answers, then marks them against a NESA-style guideline. Good in the weeks before an exam.
How to use the prompt¶
- Fill in the steps above and press Copy to clipboard.
- Open your AI tool and paste it in as your first message.
- Answer the AI's questions honestly — it adjusts to how you actually respond, not just the confidence level you picked.
- For extra accuracy, paste in the relevant topic page from this site straight after the prompt. The 2025 syllabus is new, and giving the AI the actual content it should teach from cuts down on it drifting off-syllabus or inventing detail.
What the prompt contains¶
Every generated prompt gives the AI:
- a role — an experienced NSW Stage 6 teacher working with a student your age
- the course and syllabus — Year 11 or HSC Physics, NESA Physics 11–12 Syllabus (2025)
- the syllabus content in scope — the actual dot points for the focus area(s) you picked, so it teaches those, not a textbook's version
- exam context — that the data and formulae sheets are provided, so the goal is understanding and applying relationships rather than memorising them
- your confidence level, which sets how far back it starts and how hard it pushes
- command-verb and mark-allocation rules for practice mode, so questions look like real HSC questions
Honest limitations¶
- It's only as good as the chatbot. A weaker free model will still make mistakes, especially on multi-step calculations and anything unusual. Always check its working — that's good exam practice anyway.
- Practice questions aren't real past papers. They're in HSC style. NESA past papers and sample materials are still the gold standard.
- The syllabus is new (first HSC 2028). The prompt tells the AI to flag when it isn't sure something is in scope — but if an answer contradicts your teacher or this site, trust your teacher and this site.
- Check your school's rules on AI use. This tool assumes you're allowed to use an approved AI assistant for study support. If you're not sure, ask your teacher first.
